The main concern of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is not only to manage the negative health issues but to help us live better. A study was published in the journal Preventing Chronic Disease showing the vegetables and fruits with the highest nutrient content.

The goal of the study was to calculate the amount quantity of 17 essential nutrients (as protein, fiber, calcium, potassium, iron, zinc, Vitamins A, B`1, D, etc.) in a 100 calorie-serving. Watercress showed as the one who had the most nutrients.

Others who rank well on the table were leafy greens including chard, chicory, and lettuce, while in the lower places on the table were sweet potatoes, turnips, and grapefruits. 47 foods were tested and 41 of them have the minimum 10% daily value (DV) of the nutrients in the list per 100 calories, while 6 fruits and vegetables didn’t pass the test at all. Among them were garlic, onion, cranberry, blueberry, tangerine, and raspberry.

All of the tested foods have elements which are of great importance for everyone’s diet and they should be considered as super foods. What is very surprising is that this study didn’t include avocado in the tested foods.

Do not exclude any other fruit or vegetable which is not on this list because each one has its own way of contribution to our overall health.
